In a small imaginary town named Yaraguey, deep inside of Cuba, the Castiñeras family members get news that they may have inherited over millions. But this news turns the lives of the Castiñerias family and their fellow townfolk upside down. Especially affected are Bernardito and his wife Marthica.

En Yaragüey, un pequeño pueblo imaginario del interior del país, los miembros de la familia Castiñeiras reciben la noticia de que pueden recibir una herencia millonaria. A partir de ese momento, la vida de los Castiñeiras y de todo el pueblo se desestabiliza, en especial la de Bernardito y su esposa Marthica.

Born in Havana, Cuba, 1943. Director and screenwriter, starts working at the ICAIC as production assistant and later as director. In 1963, he begins a prolific documentary film career with a great thematic diversity in which dominates his interest relevant interpretations of the music in transition throughout Cuba. After a few forays into short fiction moves on to full-length features. House for Swap, based on a play that he staged himself, is followed byPflaff! Or Too Afraid to Live , which suggests the filmmaker’s future style. In 1993 and 1995, respectively, he co-directs with Tomás Gutiérrez Alea the feature films, Strawberry and Chocolate and Guantanamera. Afterward he makes Waiting List (which participated in Un Certain Regard in Cannes). Horn of Plenty his most recent film.

Nació en La Habana, Cuba, 1943. Director y guionista, comienza a trabajar en el ICAIC como asistente de producción y después de dirección. Inicia en 1963 una prolífica carrera en el cine documental con una gran diversidad temática, en la que predomina su interés por intérpretes relevantes de la música en tránsito por Cuba. Tras algunas incursiones en el cortometraje de ficción pasa al largometraje con Se permuta, basada en una obra teatral que escenificara él mismo; le sigue Plaff o Demasiado miedo a la vida, que deja entrever su estilo. En 1993 y 1995, respectivamente, es codirector, junto a Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, de los largometrajes Fresa y chocolate y Guantanamera. Posteriormente realizó Lista de espera, con la que participó en Cannes (Un Certain Regard). El cuerno de la abundancia es su más reciente filme.
