Angola, Africa, 1983. Thousands of armed men trained and armed by the racist South African military charge with a violent offense against the Angolan government loyalists (FAPLA) and a group of Cuban consultants stationed in Cangamba, a small southern town. An uneven battle ensues for over a week, affecting even the innocent townspeople.

África, República Popular de Angola. Agosto de 1983. Miles de efectivos entrenados y armados por el racista ejercito surafricano, lanzan una violenta ofensiva contra FAPLA –las fuerzas leales al gobierno angolano-y un grupo de asesores cubanos estacionados en CANGAMBA, pequeño poblado situado al sur del país. Durante más de una semana, se desarrolla una desigual batalla, que también golpea a la inocente población civil.

Born in Havana in 1936, he studied law, history, and advertising, as well as theater and music. In 1959, he started working as a director and scriptwriter for theater programs and musicals on television. París joined the Cuban film studio ICAIC as a director of feature and documentary films in 1964. París has taught at the Art Institute (ISA) and is the founder of the Cuban National Union of Writers and Artists. Many of his films have focused on the theme of counterintelligence, including Patty Candela, about a 1961 plot to assassinate Raúl Castro; The Legend (in collaboration with Jorge Fraga) about a Cuban double agent; and in 1990, the exceptional realistic war film Caravan, which deals with Cuban military actions in Africa. His most recent production, Kangamba is a complex feature film about a 1983 event in which a few Angolan MPLA soldiers and Cuban internationalist troops come under siege.

Nacido en La Habana en 1936, estudió derecho, historia y publicidad, así como teatro y música. En 1959, comenzó a trabajar como director y guionista de programas de teatro y musicales en la televisión. París se sumo a los estudios de cine cubano ICAIC como director de los largometrajes y documentales en 1964. Es professor en el Instituto de Arte (ISA) y fundador de la Unión Nacional de Cuba de Escritores y Artistas. Muchas de sus películas se centran en el tema de la contrainteligencia, incluyendo: Patty Candela, acerca de un complot para asesinar a Raúl Castro en 1961; Leyenda, (en colaboración con Jorge Fraga), acerca de un doble agente cubano y, en 1990, la excepcional película realista de guerra Caravana, que se refiere a las acciones militares cubanas en África. La más reciente producción de París es Kangamba, una compleja historiaque ocurre en 1983 sobre algunos soldados del MPLA y las tropas internacionalistas cubanas en Angola y como estuvieron sitiados por tropas enemigas por varios días.
