Titón, Tomás Gutiérrez Alea (1928 - 1996), remarkable filmmaker and one of film history’s paramount names. From his birth at Havana and up to Guantamera, his last movie, this documentary broadly traces Titon’s work, his outlook and vital engagement as reflected in his own words and in the opinions of family members and professionals. An essential and touching thread is provided by the account of actress Mirtha Ibarra, the director of the documentary and Titon’s lifelong companion.

Desde su nacimiento en La Habana hasta Guantanamera, su última película, este documental muestra a traves de las palabras de Titón y de familiares y profesionales del ramo,  su pensamiento, su obra y compromiso vital. Ella como hilo conductor, la actriz Mirtha Ibarra, esposa del cineasta, dirige este trabajo desde un punto de vista imprescindible y emocionante.

Cuban actress, Ibarra, who graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Artes in Havana, has belonged to the most important theater groups of the island. In film, she became known role in the film To a Certain Point by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea. Her international success came with Strawberry and Chocolate and Guantanamera, both directed by Gutiérrez Alea and Juan Carlos Tabío. Since Titon’s death, her husband, in 1996, she works between Cuba and Spain. She was part of the Official Jury at San Sebastian Festival in 2002 and Horizontes Latinos in 2008.

Actriz cubana graduada de la Escuela Nacional de Artes de La Habana, ha pertenecido a los grupos teatrales más importantes de la isla. En cine, se da a conocer con Hasta cierto punto de Tomás Gutiérrez Alea; su éxito internacional llega con Fresa y Chocolate y Guantanamera, ambas de Gutiérrez Alea y Juan Carlos Tabío. Desde la muerte de Titón, su esposo en 1996, Mirtha Ibarra compagina su trabajo entre Cuba y España. Formó parte del Jurado Oficial del Festival de San Sebastián en 2002 de Horizontes Latinos en 2008.
