SYNOPSIS

Havana, December 2014. A film director prepares a theatrical production of A Streetcar Named Desire and seeks an ideal interpreter for the character of Stella. In the midst of this, the news breaks that Cuba and the United States have agreed to reestablish diplomatic relations. Does it affect the immediate life of the group of actors? Does it change their desires? Does it alter the search undertaken by the director?

La Habana, Diciembre de 2014: Un director busca una actriz para el personaje de Stella en la adaptación cubana de Un Tranvía llamado deseo cuando la noticia del restablecimiento de relaciones diplomáticas entre Cuba y los EEUU interrumpe la vida de los participantes en el casting y el director para ofrecernos un retrato existencial de sus vidas mientras comparten a Stella.

DIRECTOR

Enrique (Kiki) Álvarez was born in Havana in 1961. He has degrees in Art History, Communication Theory and Screenwriting. He is currently head of the Directing Program at the International Film and Television School (EICTV). He has directed internationally acclaimed video-art, short and feature-length films, among them La Ola, Jirafas (Giraffes) which premiered in Rotterdam, “Venecia” -the first Cuban film produced through crowdfunding (premiered in Toronto) and Sharing Stella, his latest feature.
