HFFNY presents Cuban Stories for Your Holiday Season

Before we said adiós to 2020 we invited you to join us (virtually, of course) to honor the young and talented filmmaker Diana Montero, who passed away recently. We also traveled with Grammy nominated singer CuCu Diamantes.

All screenings were free of charge and available to viewers in the Northeast U.S. See below for more details and how to register.

Remembering Diana Montero (1986-2020)

THURSDAY, DEC. 17, STREAMING AVAILABLE FROM 5PM TO 11PM

This past October we lost a formidable voice in Cuban and documentary cinema- Diana Montero (1986-2020). Passing away at the age of 34, she left behind an award-winning filmography that focuses on daily life in the Cuban countryside, a vibrant window into the stories of the people who live there.

In memory of the master storyteller, HFFNY is streaming all of Montero’s documentary shorts:

ÉL ERES TÚ / HE IS YOU (2012)
ABECÉ / ABC’S (2014)
COMO LOS GATOS / JUST LIKE CATS (2013)
MILAGROSA / MIRACLE WORKER (2014)

A Flamboyantly Musical Cuban Tour: AMOR CRÓNICO

TUESDAY, DEC. 29, STREAMING AVAILABLE FROM 5PM TO 11PM

Before 2020 ends let’s hop on the bus with the flamboyant Cuban-born / New York-based singer CuCu Diamantes on a musical road-trip through Cuba.

This musical, romantic, feature-length docu-comedy, directed by legendary Cuban actor Jorge Perugorría, follows Grammy nominated singer CuCu Diamantes as she embarks on a whirlwind tour of her home country. Interweaving glamorous live performances with a fictional romance, the film is the perfect tune-filled road movie to enjoy from home. Backed by a high-energy Latin soundtrack, CuCu’s journey is a visual love poem to the sites, sounds, and people of Cuba.
