Welcome to Havana Film Festival New York
The Havana Film Festival New York (HFFNY) has become an internationally recognized film festival celebrating Latin American cinema with new full-length features, documentaries, short films, classics and animation from Cuba, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America. Our program is renowned for premiering award-winning films as well as the work of emerging filmmakers. This year's selection appeals to different age groups, fostering an appreciation of Latin American culture with films from or about Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Uruguay, Peru, Puerto Rico.
Jorge is an acclaimed actor, director and artist. We have selected some of his best movies to screen at this years festival- Amor Vertical, Things I left in Havana, Strawberry & Chocolate, Habana Abierta, and A Rose of France.
The big screen professional was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1965 and his work as an actor began with small roles in television and theater. He stepped out of anonymity when in 1993 Cuban director Tomas Gutierrez Alea, chose him to play one of the key characters in Strawberry and Chocolate. After his excellent work, he received proposals to play other roles at the international level.
