Biography

Izabel Acevedo (Guatemala, 1981), studied cinematography at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in Mexico City and received a postgraduate degree in Feature Film Screenwriting at the Escuela Superior de Cine y Audiovisuales de Cataluña (ESCAC) in Barcelona. Her short fiction films include Globo azul (2010) and Para armar un helicóptero (2012), which won the award for Best Fiction at the 10th FICM and the Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France. Her directorial debut, El buen cristiano (2016) has shown at festivals around the world, including BAFICI in Buenos Aires, and won the FEISAL Award at the 31st International Film Festival of Guadalajara (FICG). Currently, she lives and works in NYC as a filmmaker and editor.
