MARINA FERNANDEZ FERRÍ

Marina Fernandez Ferri is an independent filmmaker with experience producing multi award-winning features and short films that have been shown at international film festivals including Sundance, FICG, Montclair FF, Havana Film Festival or Cannes. In 2019 she launched her company Brisa Pictures and produced the American part of the international film “No Land’s Man”, by Mostofa Farooki. She is the co-producer “Son of Monarchs”, film that recently won the 2021 Sloan Prize at Sundance Film Festival.

 Marina Fernandez Ferrí es una cineasta independiente con experiencia en la producción de largometrajes y cortometrajes premiados que se han exhibido en festivales de cine internacionales como Sundance, FICG, Montclair FF, Festival de Cine de La Habana, y Cannes. En 2019 lanzó su empresa Brisa Pictures y produjo la parte Estadounidense de la película internacional “No Land’s Man”, de Mostofa Farooki. JOE ROLLINS

Joe Rollins is professor of political science at Queens College and the Graduate Center, CUNY. He is the author of AIDS and the Sexuality of Law, Legally Straight, many scholarly articles and reviews, and is a former Co-Editor of Women’s Studies Quarterly. After starting life as an artist and student of dance, he went on to graduate from Hunter College in 1988 with a degree in political science. He subsequently took his Ph.D. in that same subject at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He teaches courses on gender, sexuality, law, and popular culture.

Es profesor de ciencias políticas en Queens College en el Graduate Center de CUNY. Es el autor de “AIDS and the Sexuality of Law”, “Legally Straight”, y muchos artículos y reseñas académicas, fue coeditor de “Women’s Studies Quarterly”. Después de comenzar su vida como artista y estudiante de danza, se graduó de Hunter College en 1988 con una licenciatura en ciencias políticas. CARLOS BARBA SALVA

CARLOS BARBA SALVA (La Habana, CUBA, 1978). His thesis addressed the relations between cinema and literature by analyzing “Explosion in a Cathedral ” by Humberto Solás. From here, he made the documentaries dedicated to Solás: “Memories of Lucía”, “The man of the century”, “Gibara, Open City” and “Humberto”. He worked as an assistant director in “Santiago y la Virgen” (Jorge Perugorría), “The mystery of the waters” (Arturo Sotto), “City in red” (Rebeca Chávez). He wrote, with Enrique Pineda Barnet, the script “Mi Virgen de la Caridad” (Official Selection 36th Havana Film Festival). He has received diverse awards, including Best Documentary at the San Francisco Tiburon International Film Festival and was a Candidate for the Fénix Ibero-American Film Award. With “25 Horas”, he obtained several official selections and the Best Short Film at the Latino and Native American Film Festival in New Haven, as well as participation in the Short Film Corner, Cannes 2018. His hometown, Guantánamo, awarded him in 2017 the Guamo Honorary Award. Selected filmography: 2002 “Ecos de un final”, 2005 “Woman who waits”, 2006 Dancing people, 2007 “Main roles”, 2009 “Day of the dead”, 2020 “Humberto & Lucía”, the latter for The Criterion Collection within the Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Project.

A partir de aquí, realizó los documentales dedicados a Solás: “Memorias de Lucía“, “El hombre del siglo“, “Gibara ciudad abierta” y “Humberto“. Trabajó como asistente de dirección en “Santiago y la Virgen” (Jorge Perugorría), “El misterio de las aguas” (Arturo Sotto), “Ciudad en rojo” (Rebeca Chávez). Redactó, junto a Enrique Pineda Barnet, el guion “Mi Virgen de la Caridad” (Selección Oficial Guión Inédito del 36 Festival de Cine de La Habana). Ha recibido reconocimientos entre los que se destaca Mejor Documental en Tiburon International Film Festival de San Francisco y fue Candidato al Premio de Cine Iberoamericano Fénix. IVONNE COTORRUELO

Ivonne Cotorruelo is a Cuban Film Curator and Producer based in New York, who has been empowering storytellers for over a decade. As a Producer, her filmography includes critically-acclaimed, globally celebrated titles such as “Venecia”, “Giraffes”, and “Dark Glasses”, among others. She has been a features Programmer, on programming committees, and on screening committees at various film festivals around the world.  A Berlinale talent campus alumnus, she is always seeking out films from underrepresented voices, working on a plan of strategic diversity, equity and inclusion.

 Ivonne Cotorruelo es una curadora y productora de cine Cubana. Establecida en Nueva York. Ella ha empoderado a cineastas y narradores por más de una década. Como productora, su filmografía incluye títulos aclamados y celebrados a nivel mundial como “Venecia”, “Jirafas” y “Gafas oscuras”, y más. Cotorruelo ha sido programadora de largometrajes, en comités de programación y proyección en varios festivales de cine mundiales. Es alumna del Campus de Talentos de la Berlinale, y siempre está buscando películas de voces insuficientemente representadas, y trabajando en un plan de diversidad estratégica, equidad e inclusión. 

WILLARD MORGAN

Willard Morgan is an American performance artist and filmmaker, also founder and artistic director of the East Village art collective Ideal Glass. Son of opera singer Sylvia Side, he graduated from William Esper Studio and New York University.

 Willard Morgan es un artista performático y cineasta estadounidense. Es el fundador y director artístico del colectivo de arte de East Village, Ideal Glass. Morgan es Hijo de la cantante de ópera Sylvia Side. Se graduó de William Esper Studio y de la Universidad de Nueva York. 

MIGUEL RUEDA

Miguel Rueda is a filmmaker and animator, with a Masters in Fine Arts from Academia Superior de artes de Bogotá (ASAB), and a degree in  Graphic Design, Animation and Multimedia from LaSalle College, Bogotá Colombia. In 2008 he founded AguijonFilms in New York with the purpose of creating and participating in animation projects, films and multimedia. He has been invited to present his films at several film festivals, as well as to speak at Yale University, Fairfield University and CUNY to talk about the animation process

Miguel Rueda es cineasta y animador, con una Maestría en Bellas Artes de la Academia Superior de artes de Bogotá (ASAB), y es licenciado en Diseño Gráfico, Animación y Multimedia de LaSalle College de Bogotá, Colombia. En 2008, Miguel fundó Aguijón Films en Nueva York con el propósito de crear y participar en proyectos de animación, películas y multimedia. Miguel ha presentado sus películas en varios festivales de cine, y ha participado en la Universidad de Yale, la Universidad de Fairfield, y CUNY para hablar sobre el proceso de animación.
