Rudy Riverón Sánchez is a writer and film director. He is a Cuban citizen, born in Holguín, in the southeast of the island. After working in the theater as an actor in Holguín, he moved to Havana to study Film Directing at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) while also working as a second assistant director on the Tele Rebelde channel at the Instituto Cubano de Radio y Television (ICRT). He moved to the UK in 2002. He did a BA (Hons) in Film and Television Production at York St. John University where, in his senior year, he received an award for being the student who contributed the most to the course, and his short film Beyond Reach was nominated for the 2009 Royal Television Society Student Award for the Yorkshire Region. He went on to work on various low-budget independent films, shorts, and music videos in a variety of roles. In 2010, Rudy returned to college to undertake a Master in Filmmaking at the Northern Film School. Soon after this, Rudy created AlmostFilm Productions through which he ran a strong portfolio of music videos. Then he wrote his first feature film, ¿Eres tú, papá? (Is That You?), the first psychological horror film made in Cuba. Rudy is currently developing several feature film projects.
