Carlos Barba Salva is a Cuban cinema scholar, documentary film maker, assistant director, and writer with a long list of award-winning work to his name. Some of the most famous works he has been a part of include “Memories of Lucía”, “The man of the century”, “Gibara, Open City”, “Humberto”, “Santiago y la Virgen”, “The mystery of the waters”, “City in red”, “Mi Virgen de la Caridad”, and the HFFNY 21 selection, “Las Polacas”. He has received many awards, including Best Documentary at the San Francisco Tiburon International Film Festival and was a Candidate for the Fénix Ibero-American Film Award. His 2020 work, “Humberto & Lucía”, was part of The Criterion Collection within Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Project.
