Life is Dance follows the stories of six main protagonists, across 3 generations. Ordinary Cubans with one thing in common, their love of dance. Marta and Félix are nostalgic for the dance halls of old but still dance whenever they can. Damaris and Gusmel, are leaders of a small town dance group, it means everything to them to win the annual dance competition. Teenagers Lachy and Dayan would love to be professional dancers, if only they could just dance reggaeton and not have to learn the ‘old people’s dances.’ Full colour and music, disappointment and joy, we join these charismatic characters on their journey.

“Life is Dance” es un documental que sigue las historias de seis protagonistas principales, pertenecientes a tres generaciones. Ellos son cubanos ordinarios, con una cosa en común, su amor por la danza. Marta y Félix sienten nostalgia por los salones de baile de antaño, pero todavía van a bailar, siempre que pueden. Damaris y Gusmel, son líderes de un grupo de baile de un pueblo pequeño, para ellos significa todo ganar la competencia anual de baile. A los adolescentes Lachy y Dayan les encantaría ser bailarines profesionales, si tan solo pudieran bailar reggaetón y no tener que aprender los "bailes de los viejos". Todo es color y música, decepción y alegría, nos unimos a estos personajes carismáticos en su viaje.

Glaswegian filmmaker Eirene was an art teacher, singer/songwriter and comedian before graduating in screenwriting from the UK’s National Film and Television School. An award winning writer for film and TV, ‘Life is Dance’ is Eirene’s first documentary feature film.
